I love the Scünci barrettes. They hold all of my hair in a ponytail and it looks great. What I despise about these barrettes is that they are made with a plastic plate as the decorative cover to the barrette. Why do I despise them? Other than my inner earth child cringing over the plastic; they always crack! I understand that I am probably putting too much of my hair in it and this is why they break off, but why make them able to hold all that hair but the decoration breaks off?!
Me being a craft ninja, I set to work finding a fix for this problem. On Sunday I went to Michaels and grabbed some leather pieces. I got a black piece that was 8.5 X 11 and cost about 8 dollars and a turquoise piece that was 3.5 X 9.5 and cost around 5 dollars. After much research on what glue I should use, and not wanting to go back out to the store, I chose Gorilla Glue.
I cut the pieces to size, glued and clamped them, and voila! Problem solved! They look nicer than just boring plastic and I didn’t have to throw the broken ones away and buy more! So! Save those barrettes and give them a new, better life!
